Running Facebook Ads in Davao: What the Algorithm Favors Right Now

Meta's algorithm has shifted. Here is what Davao business owners need to know to get better results from their Facebook Ads in 2026.

The way Meta's algorithm works has changed significantly over the past two years. Business owners in Davao who learned Facebook Ads in 2022 or 2023 are often running strategies that no longer work the way they expect.

Here is what the algorithm actually favors right now and how to use it to your advantage.

The Algorithm Has Become a Creative Algorithm

In 2024 and 2025, Meta shifted heavily toward letting the algorithm find the audience rather than having the advertiser define it. Advantage+ audiences, broad targeting, and minimal audience restrictions are now the norm for top-performing campaigns.

This means your creative is now doing the targeting work. The image or video you use signals to Meta who to show the ad to. A strong creative that speaks clearly to a specific person will outperform narrow audience targeting almost every time.

For Davao business owners: stop obsessing over interest stacking. Start obsessing over the first three seconds of your video or the first line of your copy.

What the Algorithm Rewards

Engagement in the first 24 hours. When you launch a new ad, the algorithm watches how people respond to it in the first day. High early engagement (clicks, stops, saves) tells the system this creative is worth showing to more people. Low engagement early means it gets deprioritized.

Consistency over spikes. A campaign running at a steady budget for 30 days will almost always outperform one that runs for a week, gets paused, then relaunched. The algorithm's learning phase requires consistent data. Pausing and restarting resets the learning.

Relevance signals. Meta tracks how well your ad matches the content people engage with. If someone who clicked your ad immediately bounced from the landing page, that is a negative signal. If they stayed and converted, that is a positive signal. The page behind the ad matters as much as the ad itself.

Video completion and watch time. For Davao businesses running video ads, watch time beyond 50% of the video is a strong signal that the creative is resonating. Short, high-hook videos (3 to 15 seconds) that get people to watch to the end consistently outperform longer videos with slow starts.

What the Algorithm Penalizes

Ads with misleading claims or bait-and-switch content get flagged. Ads with too much text on the image get lower reach. Campaigns that change targeting, budget, or creatives too frequently never exit the learning phase.

The single biggest mistake I see from Davao business owners is impatience: changing the campaign after three days because results look slow. Three days is not enough data. Let it run for at least seven days before making decisions.

The Right Campaign Structure for 2026

One campaign. One adset using broad or Advantage+ audience. Three to five creatives. Let the algorithm test which creative wins. After 14 days, keep the top performer, pause the rest, introduce one or two new creatives to test. Repeat.

This structure is simple, it is what Meta's own best practices recommend, and it consistently outperforms complex multi-adset setups for small to medium businesses.
